About Me:

When I started my journey to becoming a midwife...

I was working at two  local hospitals.  At that point, I had been working in healthcare for nearly 10 years.  While I was exposed to myriad specialty areas in healthcare, cutting edge technology, and surrounded by many excellent healthcare practitioners—I had a strong desire to find a health service with a more holistic approach, continuity of care and had a strong affinity for providing preventative care.

I made a powerful connection with the Midwives Model of Care, which emphasizes providing individualized, high quality care and is rooted in acknowledging pregnancy, birth , breastfeeding and menopause as normal processes.

Rather than viewing the pregnant person through the lens of technology and pathology, the midwife uses low-intervention, hands-on techniques, has increased contact with clients, and incorporates the client in decision making about their own care.

My training as a midwife allows me to be an expert in normal perinatal care as a whole, but I believe that the client is the expert in their own body and day to day experience; bringing these two areas of expertise together makes for an excellent partnership with safe outcomes.

I believe that the ability to truly hear my client on any detail—from concerns to joys—is one of the best gifts that I can offer.

Since graduating from midwifery school in 2013 and becoming a Certified Professional Midwife in 2014, I have also had the joy of becoming a mother to the most wonderful and vibrant little boy!

My personal experience of pregnancy, birth, postpartum, breastfeeding and beyond is filled with moments of pure bliss, struggle, fear, triumph, joy and pride.  I have learned so much from my personal journey to motherhood and it refuels my passion daily to support people in finding empowerment in their own pregnancy, birthing, postpartum, breastfeeding experiences.

As a faculty member of Birthwise Midwifery School, I regularly spend time in a classroom setting, helping to educate the next generation of midwives.  When I am not in the office or the classroom, I have been found on a lake in our family canoe, on a hike, relaxing with a good book or a knitting project, getting my hands dirty in our garden, or playing cars with my son.
